Beginner Makeup Essentials

Hello Wonderlandians,

Today I have a beginner makeup guide for you. These are some of the suggestions I would make to someone who is just starting doing their makeup.

These are some of the products I believe are pretty easy and make a difference for an everyday look.

Number 1 - Concealer

I would say for most beginners concealer is more than enough to give your face a fresh new look. Why not foundation you may ask? Well for most people if you are not used to wearing foundation it is a much better idea to slowly start putting products on your face. Some foundations can feel heavy and cause breakouts. Remember Keep It Super Simple (KISS). With concealer you can highlight the face, cover dark circles, and hide imperfections.

Number 2 - Eyeliner

For me eyeliner can make a huge difference in a look. You can enhance your eyes or make them look bigger. It can be a little daunting at first if you lack practice or if your a newbie. Practice with different kinds, until you find which one works for you. I know starting out I had an easier time applying gel liners with an angled brush. Now I prefer liquid liners. I would also recommend getting a dark one (brown, black, or navy) to go on your eyelid and a light one (nude, or white) to go on your waterline. Adding a light colored eyeliner to your waterline will help open up your eyes and make you look more awake.

Number 3 - Mascara

A very quick way to help you look awake is mascara. I have pretty droopy eyelashes, but once I perk them up with some mascara I look more awake. There are different kinds of mascaras, I tend to get the waterproof kind, simply because my eyes easily water and I would rather avoid looking like La Llorona. There are also so many different colored mascaras our there now that it would be an easy way to add a splash of fun color to your look.

Number 4 - Lipstick

I am a lipstick hoarder and this would not be a complete post without me bringing up a lip product. Lipstick isn't for everyone, I get it, but if you want to look into wearing lipsticks here are my suggested two. I would get a lipstick a shade darker than your natural lips to start you off with. I would then suggest either a berry lip or pink lip. If you dare go for a red lip I feel like that goes well for everyone.

Number 5 - Eyeshadow

I know eyeshadow can make a big difference for your eyes, however for people who are just starting off I would use the KISS principle and just go for once shade you can rock or a small trio you can play with. I would go for a shimmery taupe/champage shade. That color works for everyone.

Hope these suggestions have helped and until next time!

Yours Truly,

Abstract Alice
